DESKDROP PRIVACY
Your images.
Your control.
This policy covers the DeskDrop apps, this website and support correspondence. DeskDrop is operated by Benjamin Di Giacomo.
Your images and local app data
DeskDrop saves copies of images you add to its Mac library. It also saves information needed to display and manage them, including names, added dates, desktop positions, sizes, library status and layout preferences. Shortcut and onboarding preferences are stored locally.
On iPhone and iPad, DeskDrop receives images you explicitly provide through its Share extension or a Shortcut you run. It does not request access to browse your entire Photos library. On Mac, DeskDrop reads the clipboard when you invoke its add-image action, such as clicking the menu-bar icon or using your configured shortcut. It does not continuously monitor the clipboard.
Imported or shared image files may retain metadata supplied by the source application, including metadata already embedded in the image. DeskDrop does not promise to remove location or other embedded metadata.
iCloud
The mobile Share extension saves your selected image to DeskDrop’s iCloud Documents inbox when available. Apple’s iCloud service synchronizes the inbox, and the Mac app can import images from it. This uses your Apple Account and iCloud Drive. DeskDrop does not require a separate DeskDrop account.
The Mac’s iCloud inbox setting starts enabled and can be turned off in Settings. Turning it off stops the Mac’s iCloud inbox checks; it does not erase previously saved files or prevent you from sharing more images from iPhone or iPad.
“Added to DeskDrop” confirms that the destination file was saved. It does not confirm completed cloud upload or receipt on your Mac.
Retention and removal
Remove Image takes an image off the desktop and keeps it in the Removed library category so you can restore it. It does not permanently erase DeskDrop’s copy or your original image. Previous image files and layout state may also be retained for undo and recovery.
Images imported from an inbox are copied into the Mac library; importing them does not delete the inbox originals. This release has no in-app permanent-delete command or automatic expiry for library or inbox images. Turning off iCloud reception is not a deletion command.
Temporary files used while sharing are cleaned up during normal completion or cancellation. An interrupted operation may leave temporary files behind. Apple’s storage, synchronization and backup settings may also affect how long copies remain.
Native app services
DeskDrop’s native apps contain no advertising or analytics SDK, cross-app tracking implementation, or developer-operated image-upload service. Images shared through iCloud use Apple’s service. DeskDrop does not ask for payment-card details in the app; App Store purchases are handled by Apple.
Apple’s services, including iCloud, App Store purchases and any operating-system diagnostic sharing, are governed by Apple’s applicable terms and privacy practices.
Apple’s privacy policySupport correspondence
If you email support@a9ny.com, your email address, message and any attachments are received so your question can be answered and the reported issue investigated. Please avoid sending private images or information that is not needed to explain the problem.
Support email is handled through Google’s email service. Google processes correspondence to provide that service under the terms that apply to the mailbox. See Google’s privacy information.
Benjamin Di Giacomo is the only person with access to the support mailbox. Google processes email as needed to provide its service.
Support messages and attachments are kept while an issue is being handled, then deleted from the support mailbox within 12 months after it is resolved, unless they are still needed for an ongoing issue or dispute, or a legal obligation. Copies retained by the email provider are subject to its applicable retention and backup processes.
This website
The website has no contact form, visitor account, checkout or file-upload feature. Its application code does not set cookies or use browser storage, and does not include advertising or analytics scripts.
OpenAI hosts this website through ChatGPT Sites and may process information needed to deliver and operate it. Visiting a website sends technical request information to its host, including your IP address, browser information and the requested address. OpenAI’s applicable service terms and privacy practices also govern its processing. See OpenAI’s privacy policy.
The interactive demos page loads a sample photograph from images.unsplash.com. If you open that page, your browser contacts Unsplash to retrieve the image, which exposes technical request information such as your IP address and browser information to that service. See Unsplash’s privacy policy. Images displayed elsewhere on this website are served by this website’s host.
Your choices and privacy requests
DeskDrop does not provide the developer with access to the images in your Mac library or your personal iCloud inbox. A support email cannot remotely erase those copies. Remove Image keeps a recoverable copy; it is not permanent deletion.
For privacy questions or requests concerning support correspondence, contact support@a9ny.com. Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information, restrict or object to its use, and complain to a data-protection authority.
Benjamin Di Giacomo handles privacy requests sent to this address. Where needed to protect personal information, you may be asked for enough information to verify that the request is yours. Requests concerning correspondence held in the support mailbox will be handled in accordance with applicable law, including deletion when required. Service-provider records and copies on your own devices or in your iCloud account are managed through the relevant provider or device.
Changes
This page will be updated if DeskDrop’s privacy practices change. The effective date above identifies the current policy.
